Remembering Terry Cassidy

Porter Scott is heartbroken to report the passing of our retired partner Terry Cassidy. He epitomized what it means to be a trial attorney at Porter Scott. Terry was a faithful advocate for his clients, always making sure his clients’ interests were protected. He was always professional, courteous, and well-liked by clients and opposing counsel. He started his litigation career at Porter Scott in 1982 after graduating from McGeorge School of Law.  Prior to joining the firm, he clerked in Federal Court for Judge Mac Wilkins.  Terry made partner at Porter Scott after five years and remained one of the firm’s leading trial attorneys until his retirement in 2016.  He became one of the firm’s managing partners in 2011.  Terry was a successful in both Federal and State Court cases throughout California and was admitted into the Sacramento Valley Chapter of ABOTA in 1999, having tried more than 50 jury trials during his storied career. Terry had the unique distinction of arguing twice before the US Supreme Court and won both times.

The only thing Terry loved more than being a lawyer was his family.  Terry met his wife, Elise, in college and they had a long and amazing love affair.  He and Elise have four wonderful children:  Kevin, Cara, Erin, and Brian, along with seven grandchildren.  Terry was a huge rock music aficionado and loved to attend live concerts.  He attended many Grateful Dead and Rolling Stones shows.  He and Elise loved to travel and experience different cultures and landscapes.  He loved craft beer and trying out new breweries.  Terry was born on October 7, 1955, and passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the age of 66.  He died peacefully in his sleep after watching his beloved Giants beat the hated Dodgers.

Terry will be missed by all.
