Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Porter Scott endeavors to instill greater awareness of and commitment to the needs of our diverse employees; ratify hiring and training processes to bring about meaningful change within our workforce so that it better reflects the community within which we practice; continually educate the firm on current and past issues our diverse communities have or are facing; and encourage understanding and appreciation for the unique perspectives of each employee, client, vendor and peer with whom we interact, particularly those from diverse backgrounds.
Here are some examples of ways that Porter Scott actively pursues Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
- Founding and current member of the Sacramento County Bar Diversity Fellowship Program
- Member and financial supporter of Sacramento Area/Northern CA Legal Employers Diversity Collaborative
- Chartered a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee within the firm. Committee is charged with increasing DEI efforts and exposure within the firm and community
- Provide training on DEI to all employees of the firm and why it matters
- Support community organizations that provide services to diverse and disadvantaged groups
- Encourages and financially supports participation and membership in Sacramento County Bar Affiliate organizations such as Women Lawyers of Sacramento, Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento , South Asian Bar Association, Cruz Reynoso Bar Association, Wiley W. Manuel Bar Association, SacLEGAL, Leonard M. Friedman Bar Association , and others
