David Melton Elected to ABOTA
David Melton, a shareholder with Porter Scott, has been elected as a new member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. ABOTA membership consists of more than 6,000 trial lawyers representing equally the plaintiff and defense bars, as well as judges, spread among 90 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Porter Scott has more attorneys inducted into ABOTA than any other litigation firm in the Sacramento region.
Since its inception in 1958, ABOTA’s primary mission has been the preservation of the civil jury trial right guaranteed by the 7th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. ABOTA is an invitation-only organization. Inducted members must have at least five years of active experience as trial lawyers, have specific experience trying cases before juries and exhibit the virtues of civility, integrity and professionalism.
David is honored and humbled to be a member of ABOTA. “I have been lucky in my career to have clients who believed in me enough to allow me to try their cases before a jury. I also had a lot of help along the way from my partners and staff at Porter Scott.” Congratulations David!
